Humanitarian EMS and Crisis Response
Despite technological gains, 2026 remains a year of extreme challenges for EMS in specific zones. In countries like Venezuela and parts of Colombia, public health systems face acute shortages of basic supplies, including oxygen and
sterile bandages.
International humanitarian organizations, such as DG ECHO, have committed nearly €95 million in 2026 to support essential services in these regions. EMS here often relies on "Mobile Health Units" and volunteer networks to provide care in areas where organized crime or political instability has caused a collapse of traditional emergency infrastructure.
